Hot Takes New York Giants NFL

Stop saying that the Giants should trade for Teddy Bridgewater

As one of the proud creators of the Giants 366 community on Facebook, I get to read a lot of hot takes and opinions from a lot of Giants fans. I enjoy reading most of them but one thing that I see quite often that is totally wrong is the opinion that the Giants should trade for Teddy Bridgewater.

Teddy Bridgewater isn’t good. He wasn’t a franchise quarterback before his leg literally almost snapped off and he’s not a franchise quarterback now. I’m going to compare a few quarterbacks based on their best season:

Quarterback A’s best season: 4,428 yards, 35 touchdowns, 18 INTs

Quarterback B’s best season: 3.231 yards, 14 touchdowns, 9 INTs

Quarterback C’s best season: 4,208 yards, 24 touchdowns, 12 INTs

Who are these quarterbacks? Great question.

Quarterback A is Blake Bortles. Quarterback B is Teddy Bridgewater. Quarterback C is Ryan Tannehill.

Let’s even look at a career comparison between a few quarterbacks:

Quarterback A has a 1.27:1 TD/INT ratio and averages 192 yards per game

Quarterback B has a 1.38 TD/INT ratio and averages 261 yards per game

Quarterback C has a 1.38 TD/INT ratio and averages 242 yards per game

Quarterback D has a 1.31 TD/INT ratio and averages 206 yards per game

Quarterback A is Teddy Bridgewater. Quarterback B is Jameis Winston. Quarterback C is Blake Bortles. Quarterback D is Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The point is that all of those QB’s suck and Bridgewater has worse numbers than all of them. He’s not the future of any franchise. I don’t care how well he played against the Jets in preseason, the man isn’t good. The Giants would make a huge mistake in trading for him. In fact, by those numbers, the Giants would indeed be better off with Jameis Winston or Ryan Tannehill.
